In the current scenario, due to mental tension, emotional disturbances, chaos and confusion associated with life, people resort to temporary stress relievers like alcohol, drudges or tobacco.

Tobacco consumption is the most common addiction throughout the world. Tobacco smoke contains 4,000 chemical constituents which are hazardous to health. Over 50 cancer accelerating agents – carcinogens which cause cancer of lungs, lips, tongue and  oral cavity are also identified.

Five per cant of the total gas in cigarette smoke is carbon monoxide and nicotine. CO has 200 times greater affinity to hemoglobin than oxygen and thus reduces the supply of oxygen to cardiac muscles, lungs, brain and the body indirectly causing unnecessary strain on the heart. The CO and nicotine mixture increases the heart and B.P., which in turn strain the heart and blood vessels. Nicotine increases the need of oxygen by heart muscle. Nicotine has an adverse effect on plasma lipids, increasing cholesterol and stimulates sharp release of adrenaline which in turn increases heart rate and blood pressure. It also acts on nervous system and creates. It also acts on nervous system and creates addiction. Also, it increases adhesiveness of platelets causing attacks, stoke, decreases blood flow to hands and legs.

Smoking during pregnancy rates and abortion. Passive smoking i.e. the effect of this addiction on there people around cannot be ignored.

Thus, smoking is a slow – killer. Hence, the idea of smoking as an energy booster, will – power increaser, relaxer and stress reliever is not right. Realization that smoking causes permanent damage to various systems and making a strong decision to quit and improve the quality of life by taking medical treatment, counseling and Raja Yoga Meditation is the need of the hour: Meditation helps a person gain spiritual interactions. Our attitudes towards relationships become more tolerant and positive. Thus, we experience stability, judgment and peace of mind  under all adverse conditions.
