In an ectopic pregnancy, the fertilized egg attaches itself and gets implanted in the fallopian tubes (or rarely in some other places such as the ovary, stomach or even the cervix) instead of the Uterus. Therefore, it is referred to as ‘tubal pregnancy’, the most commonly observed type of Ectopic Pregnancy.
Since the fallopian tubes are not ready to support the growing embryo, the fertilized egg in such type of pregnancies cannot progress in a normal way.Ectopic pregnancy is of concern for pregnant women in the first Trimester.
