Introduction Chickenpox is a common communicable disease which is generally seen among the kids, particularly those under age 12. Chickenpox is caused by the varicella-zoster virus (VZV). A person usually has only one episode of chickenpox, but VZV can lie dormant with in the body and cause a different type of skin eruption later in life called shingles (Herpez zoster). Symptoms of chickenpox A rash that usually begins on the body and face and later often spreads to the scalp and limbs. It may also spread to the mucous membranes especially in the mouth and on the genitals. The rash is often itchy. It begins as small red spots which develop into blisters in a couple of hours. After one or two days, the blisters turn into scabs. New blisters may appear after after three to six days. The number of blisters differs greatly from one person to another. The infected person may run a temperature. These symptoms are mild in young children. Chickenpox lasts 7 to 10 days in children and longer in adults. Adults can feel very ill and take longer to recover. They are also more likely than children to suffer complications. Home Remedy / Treatment Problem Remedy Antiviral drug Neem leaves are used for antiviral action as they are properly grinded & make the mixture in to small quantities like balls which are easy to swallow. The balls can be rolled in sugar or in starch for taste masking as they are bitter in taste. Fever To control the body temperature body is to be wiped with wet cloth. Itching Baking soda is to be used for itching sensation Marks on skin Cut the nails Precautions As the chickenpox is a communicable disease, avoid the infected children to mingle with the other children while playing, eating etc. Don’t send the children to the school until the formed blisters turn in to black scars. Take necessary care during the early stage of chicken pox. Conclusion By the help of the home remedies summer special chickenpox can be successfully treated.
