
Mangustan is a tropical fruit of the three Garcinia mangostana and Grown primarily in Southeast Asia and other tropical climates. Mangustan also known as the Mangosteen. A dark purple rind and sweet white pulp, it close to the size of a tangerine. It has unique chemicals called xanthones which have anti-inflammatory effects. Along with ‘xanthones’, The fruits contains gartanin, 8-disoxygartanin, and nonmangostin. Mangosteen is rich with antioxidants.
The whole fruit was used to treat people both topically and internally. Research on the mangosteen fruit has numerous nutritional components Has been known to neutralize free radicals, supports the Cardiovascular system, supports cartilage and joint functions, strengthens and supports the immune system, promotes a healthy respiratory system and maintains intestinal health. The rind helps to relieve diarrhea and cystitis, gonorrhea and gleet and as an astringent lotion. The leaves and bark as a febrifuge is used to treat thrush, diarrhea, dysentery and urinary disorders. The rot can regulate menstruation.
The dried Mangosteen rind is made into a powder to overcome dysentery. The rind as an ointment, is applied on eczema and other skin disorders and problems. A portion of the rind is steeped in water overnight the the infusion is given as a home remedy for chronic diarrhea. In Malaya, infused leaves combined along with unripe bananas with a little benzoin is applied to wounds and circumcisions. The bark extract called amibiasine has been used for treatment of amoebic dysentery. Here many benefits but use for preventing colds. When get a cold pop a couple capsules and then never get more than the sniffles. The research shows that it has more xanthones than just about any other fruit.
