Periodontitis, a disease that inflames the tissue around the teeth, affects more than half of adults, and has been linked to an increased risk of stroke and heart problems. Now, there’s new investigation looking at fish oil as a possible therapy. Researchers reviewed eight studies to understand the effect of fish oil on periodontitis. They found that improvements in clinical measures were common in all the studies, but specifically significant in two that used the combination of fish oil and aspirin.
