A heart-healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables and fish significantly reduces the chance of a secong heasrt attack and stroke in people with cardiovascular diseases, McMaster University researchers have found.
The study discovered those who ate a heart-healthy diet had 35 per cent reduction in risk for cardiovascular death; 14 per cent reduction in risk for congestive heart failure and 19 per cent reduction in risk for stroke.
Drug treatments like Aspirin, substantially lower the risk of another heart attack, but a quality diet significantly lowers the risk.
